So often we talk about the hardships and problems of being a single parent, especially single moms, it is not easy its tough, we often criticize the absent parent and that's usually the father whether its his fault or not he gets the blame. while I know its far better for a child to be raised in a two parent household(a mother and a father) being raised by a single parent is not a death sentence, far from it, what matters most is a parent or parents who gives the child a loving and caring environment where the child can learn and grow, an environment that encourages respect for others as well as oneself. A perfect example is the supreme court nominee judge Sonia sotomayors single mom. A single mother who probably didn't spend a lot of time complaining to the kids and everyone else about having to do it alone, she didn't make the perfect excuse of not having a husband. no she worked two jobs and instilled in her children the values of hard work, discipline, and education, and I bet you she didn't spend a lot of time and money at the nail salon or have all the latest fashion and fake jewelry and it would be a safe bet to learn that she didn't have a lot of men and women running in and out of her bedroom in front of her children, and I would guess that she didn't spend hours and hours on the phone and enjoying the nightlife with her girlfriends. when single parents fail it's not because there's no father or mother in the home it's because that single parent has the wrong priorities and values.
